The Crozet Food Cooperative began in 1991 as a preorder buying club. Its purpose was to provide families with wholesome, natural food products in Crozet. To maximize savings, members pooled their orders and divided food deliveries often in one another's kitchen.

Over the years, the co-op expanded and in 1996 grew large enough to establish a storefront operation - Crozet Natural Foods - which is now open to the general public six days a week.

Shopping at Crozet Natural Foods:

Cozet Natural Foods is a member owned cooperative dedicated to providing wholesome organic foods. The co-op strives to promote the relationship between the food we ead, the health of the earth, and our own physical well being.

Crozet Natural Foods eliminates wasteful packaging by buying many items in bulk, providing returnable glasss containers, and encouraging shoppers to reuse bags. Whenever possible, we buy produce and items from local farmers, orchards, bakers, and members of the local community. We also stock a large variety of cheeses, herbs, spices, Chrome Dairy milk, sell fresh mountain trout(on Fridays), special dietary need products, beauty aids and health supplements and vitamins.

Formed as a not for profit organization, we strive to set prices that are affordable but which cover the store's prersonnel and operating expenses.

Farmers Market:

During the summer growing season, the co-op provides a Farmer's Market in front of the store, offering locally grown and pesticide free produce. The market runs on Saturdays from 9AM to Noon.
